September 2019 Lecturer’s Note

As I was listening to mass on EWTN on 9/1/2019, I heard the priest acknowledge the Knights of Columbus, specifically the State Deputy of Alabama, who had brought the Silver Rose to mass. The priest indicated that the Silver Rose had travelled from Canada down the east coast and was going to be delivered to the State Deputy of Mississippi from where it would travel to Louisiana, then Texas. I believe he said it would be transported to Mexico where it would be run to the shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

As impressive as it was for the priest to recount the Knights of Columbus activities associated with the Silver Rose, was his mention that the Knights had requested that we pray in the presence of the Silver Rose in honor of the unborn. Father then led the congregation in praying a Hail Mary in the middle of his homily. He said the Knights asked that we say a Hail Mary for the unborn whenever we see a rose in honor of the Silver Rose pilgrimage. Vivat Jesu!
